What are the best PS5 exclusive games? For enthusiasts and the hardcore, exclusive titles are one of the main reasons for buying a console. These experiences generally make the most of the hardware you are purchasing, and so many are considered best in class when stacked up against third-party counterparts.
Sony consoles are lucky in the sense then that they're supported by a truly outstanding lineup of first-party developers, which come together to form PlayStation Studios. After it really got going during the PS4 era, owners of a PS5 system can look forward to a plethora of upcoming titles from world-class developers. That includes Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica Studio, and Sucker Punch Productions.
As such, putting together a list of the best PS5 exclusive games is no easy task. However, the Push Square community has come together to rate their favourite ones and form the ranking you see below. This list has been rated and ranked entirely by you.
However, before we get to the list, we need to do a bit of housekeeping. The term "exclusive" has become muddied over the past generation or so. Therefore, we've expanded what games qualify for this list. If a game appears on a platform beyond PS5, it must work to these parameters in order to make it into the rankings:
- Available on a Microsoft or Nintendo console: No
- Available on PC: Yes
- Available on PS4: Yes
With that out of the way, it's time to get to your list of the best PS5 exclusives games. If you think there's a game missing, use the search bar below to find it and then hand it your own rating. Your score might be enough to push it onto the list!
Note: Any game will need at least 50 ratings before it arrives on this page. If there's a game you feel is missing from this list, it's possible the title just hasn't been rated enough times.

5. Demon's Souls (PS5)
There's a reason Demon's Souls managed to become part of the gaming zeitgeist for a decade: it's a truly special, outstanding game. The FromSoftware classic is back to punish a new set of gamers and returning veterans with an updated romp through Boletaria that looks sublime on PS5. This is the same exact adventure as you remember it enhanced in all its glory; the same levels, gear, and brutal gameplay. Some enemies are now designed to be even more imposing, but the bosses are as challenging as ever.
Demon's Souls on PS5 is a gaming classic updated for the new era, and it's a privilege to experience it looking and playing so good. A PS5 collection isn't complete without Demon's Souls.

4. Astro's Playroom (PS5)
Look no further than Astro's Playroom for a demonstration of what the PS5 DualSense controller can achieve. So much more than a tech demo, Team Asobi managed to both showcase what the new PS5 features are all about and create an enjoyable platformer that pays homage to the brand's past all at once. And the best part is it's completely free and pre-installed on every single PS5 system.
You'll never forget the moment you come across the adorable Astro Bot's acting out a scene from one of your favourite PlayStation classics; it's a special way to kickstart the PS5 generation. You might have picked up some big titles alongside your flashy new system, but set aside a few hours for Astro's Playroom and experience true gaming enjoyment.
For more information, read our Astro's Playroom PS5 review.
3. Returnal (PS5)
Few games feel better to play than Returnal. Its rogue-like gameplay loop can be considered an impressive feat on its own, but developer Housemarque goes above and beyond by making the PS5 DualSense controller feel like an actual extension of your own arm. Fast-paced shooting feels phenomenal, navigating the otherworldly environments is a breeze, and the unique enemy designs live long in the mind. Outstanding boss fights on top present many of the game's high points, but in all, Returnal is simply an incredible title to play and marvel at. Even if you're not a fan of the rogue-like genre, this is an essential playthrough.

2. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (PS5)
With those re-releases out of the way, it's time to get back to the original titles coming out of Sony. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart brings back the dynamic lombax and his robotic buddy and partners them with brand new character Rivet. The three of them have to do the usual thing of saving the galaxy, which in turn takes them to a load of colourful new planets. Its gameplay loop is reminiscent of past entries, but Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart sets itself apart with special rifts that transport you through different parts of the known universe in flashes of a second. Putting the PS5 SSD to work, it's a feel-good adventure that everyone can get to grips with.
For more information, read our Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart PS5 review.
1. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered (PS5)
Talk about taking the no thrills route, Sony! Marvel's Spider-Man was another excellent game on PS4, but it has been remastered for the new generation complete with a brand new face for protagonist Peter Parker. Not many remasters can claim they did that, right? In all seriousness, while Marvel's Spider-Man: Remastered, doesn't include any new content, it's a meaty package for a brand new PlayStation player, complete with all three pieces of post-launch DLC. One of the best Spider-Man games ever just got even better on PS5.
For more information, read our Marvel's Spider-Man: Remastered PS5 review.

Wow that's a pretty damn good list and only a year and half in, can see why the ps5 is the best console to get right now especially with the amount of AAA exclusives
I disagree with everything
Do these count as exclusives when I own most of them on PS4? Or are these trying to be "Sony exclusives"?
There’s some really great games on the list. And then there’s Destruction All-Stars.
1. Horizon Forbidden West, 2. Returnal
So I guess nobody else has played the Nioh or Uncharted PS5 remasters 😅
Also: “To be an exclusive, the game must fit into at least one of these categories”. Am I still half asleep or should this say “must not be on a Microsoft or Nintendo console”?
Removed - unconstructive feedback
imo, this is not even all PS5 exclusives.
A PS5 exclusive imo is an exclusive ONLY ON PS5. NO WHERE ELSE YOU CAN PLAY IT.
it doesn’t count as PS5 exclusive if the game is on PC and also on PS4 imo
Great selection but one thing I'm definitely not a fan of is forced stealth sections. Depending on how well it's implemented it could cause me to stop playing a game and the forced stealth in Spider Man where you play as Mary Jane had some of the worst stealth I have ever seen.
Damn. Those are a lot of games on ps4 and not ps5 exclusives.
Here's the list
5. Ghostwire (not for long)
4. Deathloop (not for long)
3. Ratchet
2. Returnal
1. Demon Souls Remake
we don't mention D.allstars
Played most of these and I cant really disagree with any. Pretty much spot tbh. Genuinely nice to see GT7 being shown the respect it deserves by Push Square, truly is a top notch racing game and it didn't release broken and its only going to get better with time. Also nice to see both the Uncharted remasters slightly higher on this list than I was expecting. Sometimes it feels like U4 and Lost Legacy don't always get the love they deserve when it comes to the top end of any Playstation top games list. Goonies have grown up but are still treasure hunting as adults. Edit just realised list came from votes
@Bismarck Demon's souls/returnal/astro should be the top 3.
@RevGaming And where is astro?
Removed - discussing moderation
@lolwhatno Oh damn. I put that on another category for free to play. I don't think free to play should be on the same bunch of paid games.
Good list, but my number one is Returnal, followed closely by Forbidden West and then Ghost Director’s Cut.
@RevGaming Oh that's fair, thought you were going of the article (which had astro's playroom).
P.s: What the fudge is that pfp btw?!
I don't get it, like not at all. It's great and awful at the same time.
@lolwhatno crash on depression
Ghost of tsushima is number.and pushsquare is right.word up son
@OrtadragoonX Didn't notice that you're new, welcome to the community my guy/gal (we have an introduction thread in the forum if you're interested). I hope that you enjoy your stay.
Also, Returnal is from last year
My choice :
So..... Very few of these are anything more than upscaled Ps4 games. Ps5 exclusive is just not accurate.
sorry but ps5 exclusive doesnt mean on ps4 and pc as well. it means only on ps5
What's crazy is the quality of Playstation Studios games, every title they've released is on here bar Destruction Allstars and the MLB titles
@trev666 the list would be way too short, I think there's only 5 true exclusives if you take out titles that are on PC as well
@Vivisapprentice exactly that would show how many actual ps5 exclusives there is which isnt so impressive so push sqaure changed the rules to fit the narrative
@trev666 it would look something like this
1. ASTRO'S PLAYROOM
2. RATCHET AND CLANK RIFT APART
3. DEMON'S SOULS
4 RETURNAL
5 DESTRUCTION ALLSTARS
I think that's it
This is an incredible list. Sure, lots of PS4 games here but many play much better on PS5. Whether you play on PS4 or PS5, the exclusives are industry leading. If we are going to restrict to next gen only, that is just going to make competitors look even worse right now.
@Vivisapprentice this is pretty incredible that ps5 have only those games as exclusive… in almost 2 years.
@clianvXAi I think alot more of the PS Studio titles would of been PS5 exclusives like GT7, HFW, GoWR etc... but Sony probably foresaw the chip shortage and made the developers push PS4 versions out. Just my theory. It's crazy you still can't walk into a shop and buy a PS5
@trev666 That would still be better than 0 on Xbox Series X.
@deadliner @Fragile @anoyonmus People moaned when we strictly stuck to the meaning of an exclusive, and now people moan when we don’t. We can’t win with you lot 😅
Ahahaha so hilarious
Here's our ps5 exclusive games list.
Rule : they can be available on ps4 as well
@Vivisapprentice uh ya, what's your point? Then either don't make an useless article /blog post or make the actual list, even if it's just 5 games
@trev666 exactly what I said. Thank You
I can play most on my PS4 including the entire top 4.
Guys save an article like this when the PS5 gets more than a handful of actual exclusives because its kinda pointless.
Firstly great list of games.
Interesting the top three are all old PS4 games.
They just don’t make them like they used to.
If they did stick to exclusively on PS5 I think the list would be really interesting, just some random games no one had heard off. Surely there is something in the PS5 Store?
Decent enough list though, the console shortage and lack of exclusives really put a downer on the PS5's first year and a bit.
A less misleading title would have been nice.
Only 5 of those are actually exclusive to the ps5
Great to see Astro's do so well. Probably my favourite PS5 exclusive, which surprised me somewhat. I'm still sore over GT7 and the dumb flamingoery that's happened with it (including being touted as PS5 exclusive initially until it wasn't, which became known after I bought a PS5) so I was surprised to see that so high. Spiderman is in a good spot, really enjoyed it and glad I didn't get around to the PS4 version. Still need to get around to Ghost of Tsushima though, I've had it since launch (re-launch?) and just haven't found the time as I get the feeling it's one of those that I'll play for days straight... One day. Promise.
Good lord. Who the h cares whether it’s PS5 ONLY? Are they good games that are available on a Sony system? Are any not on the PS5? Don’t upbraid the site for putting out a good list of games that you can play on the 5. Enjoy them and shut up already.
@d-slice they try to skate what an exclusive is at the beginning by saying it is on playstation or pc then it is still counted. The reason being the list of PS5 exclusives is actually tiny.
The top 3 (and a few others), as far as I'm concerned, while awesome in their own right and certainly games I'm a big fan of, aren't really legit for this list, as they were PS4 (or 3 in the case of Demon's Souls) games to start with. When I think of a PS_ EXCLUSIVE, I'm thinking of something designed for and only playable on that system. Not a remaster, repackage, extended editon, upgraded for a new console generation edition, etc. Just my 2 cents.....
Literally only 4 actual exclusives for ps5 on this list.
@Liam, @Robert, @Sammy, @Stephen,
I read the parameters for this list and understand that the definition of “exclusive” is a bit mercurial these days. Still…wondering if y’all have a list of games that can ONLY be played on PS5, not PS4 or anywhere else. Like Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart for example. If so, please let me know! Thanks!!
Still just a handful of PS5 (as not on PS4 too) exclusives.
1 Returnal
2 God of war
3 Stray
5. Spider-Man Miles Morales
4. Ghost of Tsushima
3. God of War: Ragnarok
2. Spider-Man Remastered
1. Elden Ring
They should have included Elden Ring atleast in this tier list imo
