While it seems they won't exactly be a common sight on retailers' shelves or online shops, a few more physical PSVR2 games have been spotted. Launch title Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate will receive a boxed copy and so too will Cave Digger 2: Dig Harder according to Amazon UK listings, as tweeted by Gematsu. They join The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2 Retribution with physical versions.
Both titles are being put out by publisher Perp Games, which teased such an announcement yesterday. "Still love Physical games? We do too! Who's excited to add to their physical PSVR2 collection soon," it tweeted.
Boxed copies of PSVR2 games do seem like they're going to be a bit of a rarity, though, as very few launch titles have confirmed they'll offer physical versions alongside the digital edition on the PS Store. Not even Sony has revealed a physical version of its flagship experience Horizon Call of the Mountain. It may be the case of having to rely on Limited Run Games and co for PSVR2 discs at this point.

Good to see. When they come to other retailers and not though Perp directly, I'll bite. Their customer service is horrendous when it comes to shipping abroad.
PSVR was one instance where I really wasn't interested in physical games. If I started a game in VR and then decided I'd rather play something else, the idea of taking the headset off to go and get a different game, and then get it comfortably fitted on again before starting, was enough of a faff for me to prefer all digital.
If the PSVR2 is digital only, I won't be getting one.
@BionicDodo PSVR2 will most likely support camera passthrough, so you don't have to take off the headset.
@Acedia23 Good point. Unless your game storage shelf is further away than the cable is long!
Digital all the way for me personally...don't really need more plastic tat taking up space and can't take anything with you into the next life
@BionicDodo
Camera passthrough should fix that. It seems extremely clear and with great depth perception (saw a video this morning of two testers giving each other a hi-five when they each had a headset on).
I’d take physical simply because it’s cheaper and I still have around £200 of CEX vouchers left…digital is more convenient though, and with VR games generally being much cheaper (around half the price of equivalent flat games) I do get more digital games in VR than flat.
Don't understand why people get excited about collecting modern physical games. I only find them useful as you can play the latest ones through and flip them when you're done.
1) The content isn't on the disc and/or is the pre-patched early version.
2) The cases are often made of recycled plastics which feel cheap and often lead to the artwork warping as the outer plastic isn't tight against the printed front/back/spine inlay.
3) No manual
4) Take up space
All digital is the way to go.
@jrt87 Only advantages for me going physical where possible. I get the games early (not particularly necessary but I'd lie if I said I wasn't happy when I'm getting a Tuesday release on a Friday before),cheaper, option to resell in case I don't like it.
That said, I usually only play one game at a time. If I'd be jumping from game to game constantly, it would probably annoy me more. Also, in most cases, there is a functioning gold master on disc but obviously unpatched, as you mentioned.
@siofwolves Haha. What?
Physical all day everyday for me ,when I've finished I can trade for some cash or vouchers or straight away towards other games,I have no real interest in digital and it personally gives me more value ,each to their own but if psvr2 was to go all digital ,I may be giving psvr2 a miss ,I have a stack of games to get through anyway ,technically psvr2 will be amazing ,we'll see what happens ,I won't decide anything yet though as not getting psvr2 could mean cutting off yr nose to spite Yr face ,think it'll be Incredible
Do we know yet if Moss will be getting any kind of upgrade path for owners of the PSVR1 version?
@jrt87 The entire argument with digital versus physical in the modern era is a nonsense. For me it boils down to whichever is cheapest on the day I want the game.
@NEStalgia There won't be an upgrade path.
@JP80
Same. I'm 38, I'm all about convenience and don't care for modern video game plastic. There's nothing appealing about a blue ray looking case with a bland white label & PS5 logo on it. I've been all digital since PS4 & Switch.
@jrt87
PS4 & PS5 cases look straight up ugly. I don't get the appeal. Sloppy looking bland plastic with dull box art and with a generic CD/Disc inside. I want convenience, access to weekly eShop/Playstation Store digital sales, not having to fiddle with Discs and the cases themselves taking up unwanted space.
@NEStalgia
Probably not. Regardless, I'm biting and getting both of the PSVR2 versions. Same deal with Vacation Simulator, unless it's just a PS5 patch/upgrade for the original version.
Crossing my fingers they upgrade and release Astrobot rescue mission, Resident Evil 7 & A Fisherman's tale over to PSVR2. Leaving the first two for dead on PSVR1, especially Astro Bot would feel like a complete waste since so many people missed out on both.
With 2000x2040 per eye, 110d FOV, Foveated Rendering, Eye Tracking, getting both running at an actual 120fps(Instead of 60 being reprojected into 120), maybe Haptics & adaptive trigger support and taking full advantage of it's VR Controllers.
RE7 unfortunately had downgraded visuals on PSVR1. The outdoor environments especially looked pretty awful. Capcom would need to do a slight overhaul to make it look identical to the PS5 version, and i think foveated rendering will give them the extra power to do so, aside from the PS5 having much more power under the hood.
Plus, RE7 could adopt RE8 VR's VR motion based controls, rather than using the dualshock & VR headset to aim.
@NeonPizza @dschons Bummer, thanks.
Yeah, Moss and Moss 2 are a must for me. I haven't played 2, and I don't think I ever finished 1 even though it was kind of my flagship game that got me wanting PSVR to begin with. I think Astrobot is a given. I shamefully would re-buy that too. I complain about remasters but....these three games I'd re-buy for the tech improvements here. I loved PSVR1 but.....it was a clunky experience to be sure, and this should fix almost everything that made it kind of frustrating. Astrobot's still a main mascot for them so I'm sure the first game will return and a sequel will happen. Astrobot's the official PS5 era tech demo now!
I figure RE7 will depend on how Village does for them. They won't leave money on the table if it's there.
But too many games are left stranded on VR1. Thumper was AMAZING in VR. Tetris Effect as well. Hitman (for now?) Lots of the games were disposable and don't matter but there were certain ones that will be missed with the hardware improvement. The one I'm most sad about will forever be Skyrim, since I'd assume they have no interest in the old VR experiment on PS now that they're MS, and have their hands full with Starfield. This marks the first time Todd will not be re-selling Skyrim a new way....
@siofwolves boo hoo. nothing wrong with digital. u physical purists are something else.
@NeonPizza
The plastic used is SO cheap now there is even a disclaimer warning about it causing cosmetics inperfections printed onto the case.
I've had PS2, GC, PSP and PS3 games in the same room, subject to the same conditions and they're fine. On many PS4/PS5 cases the looser plastic that you slip the artwork under seems to allow moisture or something to warp the artwork. Gives it that wavy look.
@SerJosh97 What, so I can't pay less and trade in ?
I don't think I've ever bought a LRG release and now never will. Despicable company.
@jrt87
Agreed. And aside from feeling flimsy and sloppy, there's absolutely nothing unique going on with PS4 and PS5 game cases, style & design wise. They're just too reminiscent of Bluray's.
I actually have a physical copy of Returnal on PS5(Which came bundled with my PS5. hate that game.), and the case design is butt ugly and stupid-squishy. If you bend it hard enough the slipcover will crease. They feel and look just awful. Talk about junk. What were they thinking? Feels like PS5 cases are just an afterthought, but it makes sense, since going All-digital was Sony's original plan.
Nintendo did a much better job with their Switch Cases, but I only have a a small handful specifically for my collection and dont get used, since I've made the transition to Digital only.
I prefer physical and quite often you can find games cheaper on sale in Asda Argos etc than the digital storefront.
People get so angry about things that don't matter or affect them. 🤣 Grow up.
@NEStalgia
I finished the first Moss. It was very solid, it's by no means AstroBot Rescue mission, but it's definitely up there as one of the VR greats. Playing it for the first time on the PSVR1 demo disc 3 was just magical. Took my breath away.
However, PSVR World's Ocean Descent's 'Shark Dive'(Including the PSVR World Ocean dome hub setting) was my personal holy grail VR experience, even it if was just a VR theme park-like attraction. The beauty of it, is that non-gamers will have an absolute blast with it, and being there and seeing their reaction while they experience it is just priceless. I've only finished the shark dive once, during my second attempt. I couldn't do it the 3rd time, once the Shark starts tearing through the cage and breaks in I always wind up tearing my headset off. What can I say, when VR is that convincing your imagination gets the best of you! Underwater scary marine life in VR is enough to make a grannies heart stop. lol
Haven't tried Thumper in VR yet, but i was disappointed by Tetris Effect. They really half bunzed' the stereoscopic 3D effect...Some areas of the stage were just flat, low resolution'd pixelated objects that should of had realistic depth perception. Guess the devs got lazy! NIntendo Life nailed it in their review, mentioning something along the lines of TE feeling like Tetris from a parallel universe.
A Fisherman's Tale is another worth checking out too. With the PSVR2's inside out tracking and large play area, it will be far more playable. It's too bad the Wire is still a thing though, because it can easily kill the immersion.
I suspect Sony will release a PSVR2 Version 2/Pro model in early/Q1 of 2026. With a wireless to PS5 connection, flatter front Visor, RIng-less VR Controllers like the upcoming Quest 3, even better motion tracking, maybe a QD-OLED display etc. A resolution boos is impossible with PS5, beyond 4K(2K per eye) since it's powered by the console itself, and I can't see the PS5 Pro supporting 8k. Why even bother when it comes to TV's at this point? That big boost in resolution would sure come in handy for VR though.
@Acedia23 It does, it has a passthrough button you can press.
@NeonPizza LOL, the shark demo was definitely, visually a feast. I only really needed to do it once, both because it's kinda terrifying as you said, and just because of the theme park ride aspect. I'm the most jumpy "I don't touch horror at all" gamer in the world, and I didn't find it as daunting as I expected it was going to be, thankfully, but I think that was because I knew it was a theme park ride and they weren't going to end it with you getting ripped apart in your VR kit If it were an actual game I don't think I'd have made i trough.
I personally liked Tetris Effect, both VR and 2D, but thought it had a special sort of focus in VR that it couldn't have in 2D. It may not have been a visual stunner in VR, but the feel I thought worked.
Thumper I honestly just can't play it 2D, it has to be VR, it really only works in VR. The whole thing is an acid trip to begin with. It just works in the weird isolation bubble of VR in a way it can't work in distractable 2D.
I don't expect there will be a second VR kit with those kind of upgrades for PS5. An updated SKU that tweaks a few things, sure, but not a new system. Not at the price point and the likely adoption rate, they're not all-in on VR as a main profit line unless it suddenly spikes, and I'm not convinced there will be a PS5 Pro even where there is a large business demand unless they intend to push the generation 10+ years due to the slow start. I know VR is a landscape that's changing much faster that consoles, but the last thing it needs is to become the new Sega 32X where people that are even into it like myself just stop buying into it because you always expect you're just years from the replacement anyway. I could see a "refresh" that maybe slims the visor, but I don't see them pushing different sensor or display tech. I don't think they'll augment the controllers, the design will be part of its brand image, and the design is functional.
I don't think Sony intends to directly compete with Quest 3 which is rumored to be a cheaper device, and is also rumored to, like the rumored Apple kit to focus more on AR than VR. Wireless is a holy grail in large part because those also focus on communication and in Meta's case "metaverse" applications. I know there's mixed opinion on wireless, but Wireless has inherent drawbacks, and I think Sony between their nature and history, their price point, etc is going to stick to wired and really push the "premium" angle for it. I think they'll eventually do a price drop. Those other products are aimed more at the mobile space than the "hardcore PC VR player" that Sony's trying to place themselves as an entry level version of.
I think Sony has a plan for VR to keep it in "generations" like the consoles rather than shifting it into the mobile-like model. I think it makes sense for them, in part because they're really the only one doing it, and they're not competing with existing VR models, in a lot of ways, they're creating their own VR market from the masses. Or trying. The other VR players already have their markets carved. Apple may be the one real challenge it as because once Apple does a thing it becomes the adopted thing, but Apples expected to use theirs to almost "kill" VR and push what was the VR market to the AR market....So I could see Sony doubling down on wired as a differentiator for premium entertainment VR vs the sort of meta/mobile/AR thing.
I buy physical whenever possible. Game publishers want you to go digital because they cut out production cost and giving retailers a cut of the price…do they pass the savings on to the consumers? No do they heck..charge you more in fact.
I have been swapping games with my cousin since PS1 and it has saved me a fortune and saved further trading in. I despise digital and will only do it in the absence of choice as it looks like I will have to most instances on PSVR2
